Hi! I'm Jen, the maker behind Anchor and Glass Wood Designs. I started Anchor and Glass Wood Designs in 2016 as a small side business to sell some crafts. I am from Southern California, but my parents are from Michigan and we spent most of our summer’s at a cottage on Lake Huron. While walking on the beaches you can find beach glass, which are pieces of glass from shipwrecks or litter that are smoothed from years and years of tumbling on rocks and sand. As an adult I began collecting the glass and before long had a very large collection. I began making art pieces and decided to share them with the world and opened Anchor and Glass Wood Designs on Etsy.

Shortly after starting my business I decided I wanted to make some wood signs for myself that I could paint my own sayings on, not just the generic ones found in the store. That opened up a whole new side to my business, adding woodworking to the beach glass art.

As my woodworking curiosity and skills have grown, so has the quality and uniqueness of the items I make. Starting a business has been a lot of fun and a lot of work. There have been long days and huge amounts of satisfaction when someone loves their purchase. I have been frustrated beyond belief by cutting something wrong or messing up the finish on a piece and having to start all over from the beginning. But most of all it has been so rewarding and humbling when a friend or family member wants me to make something for them because they want a piece of my work in their home.
